Bali Mourns the Loss of Prominent Bodybuilder in Freak Squat Accident

Fitness Community Devastated by Bali Bodybuilder's Tragic Death in Squat Mishap

A Bali fitness community is in shock and mourning after a well-respected bodybuilder and trainer tragically lost his life during a freak accident at a gym. Justyn Vicky, a popular figure in the Bali region, was performing a back squat when the accident occurred.

At only 33 years old, Vicky was known for his impressive physique and extensive knowledge of bodybuilding. He was considered to be in the prime of his life, making his sudden passing all the more devastating for friends, family, and the fitness community in Bali.

The incident took place on July 17, 2023, at The Paradise Bali, a fitness center located in Sanur. Vicky, who was a well-known trainer at the gym, was performing a routine workout at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, it was during his back squat that tragedy struck.

While attempting to lift a massive 210-kilogram, Vicky encountered difficulties at the bottom of the lift. Despite the presence of a spotter behind him, he was unable to escape the weight in time and fell forward with the bar still across his back. The bar eventually rolled onto the back of his neck, resulting in a severe neck injury that proved fatal. The entire incident was captured on video, documenting the heartbreaking accident.

Vicky suffered a broken neck and damage to the nerves connected to his heart and lungs. Emergency surgery was performed, but tragically, it was not enough to save his life.

The Bali community has come together to offer condolences and support to the grieving family and friends. One person who shared fond memories of Vicky was Gede Sutarya, also known as Kang Gede. He spoke of Vicky's friendly nature, generosity, and willingness to share knowledge about fitness and the gym. Kang Gede emphasized the importance of exercising caution and not exceeding one's capabilities during training.

As the community mourns the loss of Justyn Vicky, his friend, and colleague, Made Gede Purnamayasa, who has recently shared safety tips on how to perform the back squat correctly. It is hoped that raising awareness about safety precautions will help prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.
